Please find below confirmed list of attendees for the 2024 SCARA Annual Reunion Lunch. Apologies for sending this message to the full membership list but if there are any members who now find themselves available and would like to join us we would be very pleased to hear from you.
It seems likely that the ASLEF drivers on London Underground will be on strike Tuesday 12 November 2024 meaning that very few underground trains will run.
Our SCARA Lunch venue is well served by buses and walkable from a surprising number of main line railway stations in central London. Taxis of course will be available with the demand likely to be high but as the hours of our SCARA event are outside peak times this may still be an option.
For taxis and to fill in the TFL 'Plan a Journey by bus' aid below, the most important thing will be the address of the venue which is;
The International Students House (ISH)
229 Great Portland Street
London W1W 5PN
It is also right beside Great Portland Street Underground station which might be easier to use / find on maps.
The new Elizabeth Line will continue to run and the nearest station is Tottenham Court Road, some 0.8 mile away. The Elizabeth will provide links from East, West and South through Elizabeth Line stations at Whitechapel (South Essex) Liverpool Street (Mid Essex, North Essex and Hertfordshire) Farringdon (links to the Thameslink services from Surrey, Sussex and Kent and of course from Paddington for the West, Berkshire, Wiltshire.
The main line stations at Euston, Kings Cross, Marylebone and St Pancras are all a ‘brisk’ walk away from ISH in Park Crescent .
Should you wish to arrive by bus then we hope the two TFL travel aids might be of help.

Thank you to everyone who has already been in touch to confirm their place at the reunion lunch however, there are still places available, it would be really nice if more could join us.

Please put the date in your diary for the 2024 Annual SCARA Reunion Lunch.
We hope you will be able to join us for the SCARA annual reunion this year. It is scheduled for Tuesday 12 November at the ISH Conference Centre (International Students House), Great Portland Street, London.
As in previous years it will be a buffet lunch with a bar open to purchase refreshments throughout the event. This year the cost will be £27 per head. We are able to keep the price low thanks to contributions from three of our SCARA colleagues which we very much appreciate. This is a heads-up so please do not make payment until requested. Full details will be sent in August together with payment instructions.
Our guest speaker this year will be Richard Smith who joined P&O Containers as a graduate trainee in 1994. Richard spent 11 years with P&O Containers / PONL before accepting the role of Director at The Tank Museum in Bovington.
