Other Groups & Associations
PONL Heritage has had a close connection to SCARA since its inception but we have also been keen to provide a home for news and events for other associations and groups linked to P&O Nedlloyd and its predecessor companies. For 2022 the decision was made to offer areas on this website to facilitate this, with the first group joining us being the Blue Funnel Middies.
The group that started with a reunion in 2003 for former midshipmen who had served on the Blue Funnel training ship M.V. Calchas. but which has since extended to include other former Blue Funnel sea staff. Blue Funnel was one of the founding companies of Overseas Containers Limited and some 'Middies' members worked at sea and/or ashore for OCL, P&O Containers and/or P&O Nedlloyd.
