Full details of the lunch, and payment arrangements, below:
The lunch will take place at the Everest Cuisine, No 1 Queensway, Southampton SO14 3AQ on April 18th. It will be served between 1200 and 1500.
The restaurant is an easy walk from Southampton station with some on street parking and multi-story car parks nearby. The website for the restaurant is: Everest Cuisine – Traditional Indian & Nepalese Food. Please note the restaurant is on the first floor to which access is only by a staircase. There is no lift.
The price is £18.50 per head, which includes teas and coffees. Drinks will be for the account of individuals attending. Please arrange payments no later than 11th April, so numbers can be confirmed with the restaurant. If you aren't a SCARA member so haven't already had the instructions on how to do this, then details will be provided.
Partners and offspring are of course more than welcome, and I look forward very much to seeing you on April 18th.

Update 28/01/2024
Dear all,
In the run up to the Christmas and New Year break, with its anticipation of holidays , family gatherings and general good times is in full swing, we all look forward to the festive season while at the same time perhaps forgetting the rather flat feeling which inevitably follows . Well, we have the answer to the post-holiday blues and can give you something to look forward to which will brighten the day !
We thought, therefore, that we would remind you that on April 18th 2024 we are holding another curry luncheon at the Everest Cuisine restaurant in Southampton (www.everestcuisine.co.uk) . The booking there is already made and quite a lot of people have already confirmed their attendance. So, to give your self something to look forward to in 2024 do try if you can to mark the date in your diary, if you have not already done so, and join us for another OCL/ POCL/PONL reunion. As has been the practice at previous such events partners are all welcome and we very much look forward to seeing you then
Early in the New Year we will send you more details, no doubt accompanied by a request for financial contribution, but in the meantime suffice to say that the location is the same as last year and the company will be even more sparkling !!
Finally we wish you and your families and friends a really great Christmas and new year and we look forward to seeing you in Southampton in April.
Julian Bevis and James Baxter

Update 03/12/2023
We hope that wherever you are, you are enjoying the current spell of outstanding summer weather and that life is treating you well.
If you can bear to turn your thoughts briefly away from holiday planning, we thought that we ought to give you an update on the planning for the next SCARA event in Southampton. As you may know we did a survey of opinions following the event held at the Everest restaurant in April. The consensus was that with very few exceptions everyone enjoyed the event; thought that the venue was good and great value for money and that we ought to do a lunch there again.
There were suggestions to hold a summer event in addition to the April lunch. The problem with this is when. By the time most people are back form holidays we are well into autumn and getting close to the main SCARA event in November in London, and clearly most would not wish to attend two functions so close together. Hence, as we found when we proposed an event in September last year, we simply cannot get the numbers that make it worthwhile.
Accordingly we have concluded that the most sensible course of action is to make the Southampton event an annual function, held like this year in April and in the same place. We have spoken to the restaurant who would be delighted to have us back again and accordingly we have fixed APRIL 18th 2024 for lunch at the Everest Cuisine restaurant in Southampton (see below). The management there have agreed to keep the price close to what we paid this year which means it will be 17 pounds or thereabouts. This is a really good deal and given the quality of the food we think is very good value for money.
Hopefully this will give everyone something to look forward to during the long cold months of winter and that we will all be able to meet again on April 18th 2024. Partners are of course welcome and we very much hope that as many people will be able to attend as did this year. So do please put this date in the diary now, and we will keep you updated as we get closer to April 2024.
Meantime enjoy the summer, take good care and we hope to see many of you at the main SCARA event in London in November
All the very best
Julian Bevis and James Baxter
