William Wightman…known as Bill Wightman

"Joined OCL in 1973 in Coatbridge, Scotland, as a Movements Controller. Stayed with the company, as it became P&OCL, P&O Containers, and finally P&O Nedlloyd.

"I served abroad, in Dar es Salaam in the East African Trade (Beacon Service) 1982 -1987. Then went to India (based in Bombay) from 1987 until 1991. Then back to our forwarding arm Adams Express (which became Oceanlink), based in Ashford, Middlesex. It was then off to Saudi Arabia in 1995…initially Dammam, and then Jeddah.

"I remained with Maersk, after the buy-out…based in Bahrain, until 2010, when I 'retired'.

"Today, I am with Hoegh Autoliners, based in Dubai, looking after the Farrell Lines service between USA and Middle East."
