SCARA Golf Day 2025

SCARA 2025 Golf Day - Brentwood Essex - 13 May 2025 

The annual SCARA golf day was held again this year at the Bentley Golf Club in Brentwood where our party were once again very well looked after and the sun shone all day.  Once more Adrian Malupa  organised and ran the show and it all worked very well.  Unfortunately, Adrian was injured (some say as a result of over vigorous support of Leyton Orient FC  in their play-off ambitions!)  and we wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him on the tee again next year.

A number of regulars did not attend this year, wedding/holiday and a couple of operations meant the field was smaller this year, but the competition remained very competitive and was very close!

The format was the usual 18-hole Stableford Competition Full handicap with prizes for members and guests. 

The winners were as follows ;

• Overall Winner Steve Gawler  and runner-up Mike Shoesmith , well done both and of course Steve was presented with the prestigious silver rose bowl  so kindly donated to the Scara Golf Society by Lady Charlotte St Johnston.

• The longest drive and the Roger Brown memorial trophy  went to Darren Storm and the nearest the pin title to Steve Gawler again. 

• The best guest award went to John Whipps. 

Congratulations to all the winners and indeed to everyone who attended and made the day such a success .. again!.
