A number of you were aware that Roger Whittington was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year. It is therefore will great sadness that I write to tell that you he lost his battle on 16 August. He died peacefully in his sleep at the hospice in Salisbury where he had received such excellent and caring treatment since the initial diagnosis in February. His wife Mandie was at his bedside.
A couple of weeks ago Roger asked me to say a few words about his very happy time at OCL during the reception after his funeral service - ever organised and planning the fine details :-) so please let me have your thoughts, anecdotes, memories and photos. Please pass on this request to others.
Funeral arrangements are:
Thursday 29th August 1.00pm
Antrobus House
39 Salisbury Road
Amesbury
SP4 7HH
Then afterwards at
Rose & Crown Hotel
Harnham Road
Salisbury
SP2 8JQ
Flowers or donations are all being managed through James Benedict ; Funeral Directors 01980 624300. Mandie will divide donations amongst Cancer Research and The Salisbury Hospice.
Please let me know if you are going to attend the funeral as Mandie has asked me to collate 'OCL' numbers. Also your thoughts please on flowers vs. donations.
