Our sincere thanks to Sandra Davy who has passed on the very sad news of the passing of our former colleague Neal Eldridge. In her note Sandra says”
“It is with a very heavy heart and great sadness that I have to advise that a dear friend and colleague. Neal Eldridge passed away on Sunday 28th of June of cancer . He was a fantastic colleague who was generous with his time and knowledge”.
Neal had a long career in the shipping industry, having joined OCL in 1974. He worked in the Indian Ocean Service (IOS) team in Beagle House in the early 1990s. By 1996 he was a trades’ Operations Manager for in P&O Nedlloyd. With the takeover of PONL, Neal transferred to Maersk Lines as Assistant Manager with responsibilities including hazardous cargo, container lashings and dry cargo acceptance in early 2006.
John Leach was Neal's line managerfor quite some time, and on learning of his passing John wrote:
"This is really sad. Neal was a larger than life character and an asset to the team and always had good humour and great jokes. He became a specialist in the testing and acceptance of flexitanks. We reduced spillages from thousands per year to a handful and mostly down to Neal’s dedication and perseverance."
Our deepest condolences go to Neal’s family and friends.
