Marian Lynne Robertson

Very sadly Lynne Robertson passed away 23 June 2021. Mike Chapman has very kindly compiled the following which can also be viewed on the ponlheritage website.

David Robertson, Lynne’s husband, has advised us of the sad news of her passing on 23 June 2021. She had been ill for some time, but had died peacefully after going downhill quickly over a period of a few days.

Lynne will be remembered by many, having travelled widely for the company providing guidance, training and support for the implementation of business systems around the world. She had joined P&O Containers in the early 1990s as part of a small team who, in EAC-BEN, had worked on what we came to know as the Documentation & Revenue System, or DRS. After DRS was implemented (and after the merger with Nedlloyd Lines to create P&O Nedlloyd) Lynne moved on to the FOCUS programme. The term 'Subject Matter Expert' truly sums up her contribution to these critical projects for our company. Following the takeover by A.P.Moller-Maersk Lynne moved to Maersk Lines as a Programme Manager.

Lynne was known as a good person to work with who was always willing to help those around her. She had an uncanny ability to be both direct and fun to work with. Lynne loved her sports, particularly squash, running and hockey. She was also a very keen dancer and at one point back home in Scotland had been a teacher at a local ballet school.

Lynne’s faith was very important to her and for St. Mark's Church in Tunbridge Wells she played a key role in supporting children and young people.

Lynne’s funeral took place on Friday 23 July and David has kindly provided the link should anyone wish to watch the service - https://www.obitus.com/ (ID tevo6314 and password 984556). The recording will be available until 20 August.

Lynne was a regular attendee at the annual SCARA Reunion Lunch in London and we last saw her at the 2018 event. She will be much missed by her friends at this year’s lunch. Our thoughts are with David, Lynne’s family and friends.
