Julian Bevis Memorial Service

Julian Bevis’s family have advised that his memorial service will be held on the Saturday 27th April at 2.00 pm at the Holy Trinity Winchester (Upper Brook St, Winchester, SO23 8DG), and subsequently at a local hostelry.

The family look forward to welcoming as many of Julian's friends and colleagues as possible.  An invitation to attend, with full details of the arrangements including parking, donations, etc., can be found here:  https://forms.gle/nSZPfQupopDqws2ZA.  They would be very grateful if those who do wish to be there would be kind enough to provide the information requested in the RSVP form included, so that they can have some idea of numbers.

If anyone requires further information, please contact Jim Baxter through (scarasecretary@gmail.com).

Update - Julian Bevis Funeral and Memorial Service

Further to our message of 14/12/2023 we would like to advise that Julian Bevis’s family have been in touch to say that Julian’s funeral will be held on the 29th January at 12:00 noon.  This will be a private family service but they thought that his colleagues and friends might like to know in case they want to take that moment to pause to remember him.

The family are still planning to hold a Memorial Service for Julian in April in the Southampton/Winchester area and will release the details once they have been finalised.

Our thanks to Jim Baxter who is keeping us all informed.

Julian Bevis

It is with very great sadness that we must announce the sudden death of Julian Bevis. Julian was well known in OCL, POCL, PONL and Maersk for his many senior management roles, both in the UK and overseas, and in particular as Managing Director South Asia for both PONL and, prior to his retirement, with Maersk. Since then, he had been acting in an advisory capacity with APM Terminals.

Tim Smith, Board Member with APM Terminals could not have expressed the loss we all feel more succinctly when he posted on LinkedIn:

"All of us that knew him have lost a wonderful friend, and our industry has lost one of its most positive and characterful leaders. He had a huge heart especially for India and South Asia but has been a much admired and respected figure for many of us that knew and worked with him over his long career spanning the UK and Europe, Middle East, Africa, South Asia, Far East and New Zealand."

Details of funeral/memorial arrangements are not yet confirmed.

Anyone wishing to contact the family please email Jim Baxter via PONL Heritage
