Marshall Meek CBE, naval architect, with Blue Funnel / Ocean from 1953 to 1978, died peacefully on 7 August at his home in Morpeth after a short illness. He was aged 88 years.
Amongst many other aspects, Marshall Meek was responsible for the innovative design of "Centaur" and was also instrumental in the technological developments needed to create the successful Encounter and Liverpool Bay class container ships.
Marshall was always a gentleman and led by example. always taking a great interest in the men who ran the ships. He will be sorely missed by his many ex colleagues from Ocean and associated companies.
